My husband, 2 sons, and I went on a vacation and took our canoes.
We had traveled downstream for about an hour and a half when I noticed some water leaking into our canoe.  We signaled the boys who pulled alongside us at the bank to see what was wrong.  We thought we would have to hike and carry the canoe for several miles back to our campsite.  One of the boys had a first aid kit and inside was a roll of duct tape.  We pulled the canoe from the water and found a small tear in the left front.  We dried the spot with a cloth and left the canoe in the sun for about an hour.  We placed some duct tape over the tear and re-entered the water.  We were able to remain afloat and get back to our base camp before nightfall.
